"Ooce"

Lucy went back for another "summer cut" -- we were kind of shocked the first time it happened, but we actually like it now. She usually gets hot real easily anyway -- so I think it works out best for everyone!

Darby Kate calls her "ooce" and when she's not chasing around telling her "no" -- she's bending down leaning toward Lucy trying to give her a hug. Lucy's actully gotten close enough to give her licks on the head!

Front Yard Fun

Sunday was such a beautiful day -- we spent a LOT of time outside. SO, here are some more pictures from that day. Darby Kate is so funny -- she is constantly telling me funny things. I'm just not sure yet what exactly she's saying. It sure will be fun when we CAN tell!! One thing there is no mistaking -- is the word "NO". She says it, and then pooches her lips out -- really all in one motion. It's pretty cute (for the most part). I know a lot of my pictures of her -- she's either eating, eating out her snack trap, or facing the opposite direction -- BUT, that's what she does!

We were having some trouble with the concept of "please don't pick the flowers!"
"NO"

She finally understood that mommy wanted her to smell the flowers!! She still sometimes blows out of her mouth when you tell her to sniff!

this was cute -- she would pick up some pine needles, and then turn and hold them up to the sky and talk and talk. Not quite sure what was going on there....

hmmmmm....what can I get into next......
see ya next time!!

Out on the Farm with Daddy

On Sunday, the Hubs was kind enough to spend some time with Sugar and I out on the farm. This is serious hunting season -- so, we cherish each and every minute we see Daddy. (I like to give him a hard time) He was a good sport posing in all different spots -- thanks DADDY!!

We had so many great shots -- so, I posted a bunch!

I meant to update on Sugar's last doctor's visit (which was last week). She weighs 24 lbs 4 oz. She is 30 inches + (I can't remeber the + because at the time the nurse told me -- Sugar was wriggling and screaming pretty good). She did not like the shots AT ALL!! BUT, she managed to flash Dr. D one smile before she left.

Now, back to the farm..........

Sad Little Butterfly

I thought I might as well go ahead and post the pictures of Darby Kate in her Halloween outfit. You may never see her in it again. She is SUPPOSE to be a monarch butterfly. As you can see from the pictures -- she absolutely hates it. Yes, she was screaming and crying while I was trying to take the pictures. She was bound and determined to take it off -- I was bound and determined to get a few shots of her wearing the costume. We both won -- sort of. Anyway, needless to say -- she may end up being a polka-dot princess (that's the outfit minus the hat and wings). It will go along with the theme of her birthday party.

I missed my baby girl!

We were in St. Pete, FL this past weekend -- and I really missed Darby Kate. The resort where we were staying was family friendly, and there were kiddos everywhere! I hope she is beach-ready next year!

We had a great time -- we were there with Dr. Stephen and Dr. Rachel (the boys worked and the girls played!) The weather was perfect! We spent time on the beach, ate great food, went to a Tampa Bay Rays/Red Sox game, and spent some time at the spa! PERFECT (except that we didn't have DKC with us)! I don't have any pictures from the trip -- I don't have a case for my camera - so, I didn't want to take it on the plane. My small camera is MIA......let's not talk about that, though.

Here are some pics that I took when we got home.

I like this picture 'cuz it reminds me that she's still my tiny girl.
more and more curls!
waving to our neighbor
telling mommy something serious
really enjoying a pumpkin cupcake made by Babe

finger-lickin' good!

Bedtime Fun!

Some of my favorite time spent with Sugar is right before bedtime. We've tried to make family time a routine part of the evening. It may not happen EVERY single night, but we try our best. We get into sleeping clothes, (and lately, when I change her -- I give her different color "hair". In the pics below, she had pink hair!) read a book or two, brush her teeth, and zip her up in the sleep sack. The Hubs likes to read the books with lots of words, and he likes to read ALL of the words. I read the short books with very few words. We both end up letting Sugar take over, because she usually comes over and grabs the book.

Bowden Family Reunion

The first weekend in October is the annual Bowden Family Reunion. We have had to miss the past couple of years, but this year we were able to attend and bring our new addition to the family! Once again, Darby Kate had a great time playing with the kiddos and her cousin (Mags). That weekend she introduced this high pitched squeal when she was interested in getting her way. She liked to pick the quietest times to do this -- so, guess what -- she often got her way! We are working on that though -- she is teaching us a lot everyday!!
