"Things" on Thursday

your dream vacation

My dream vacation…

came TRUE!

When the hubs and I were searching for honeymoon destinations, the turquoise waters of French Polynesia drew me in every time.

It just wasn't in the cards of two folks freshly out in the real world.

BUT, the hubs always told me that we would go there for our TENTH wedding anniversary.

We traveled quite a bit the first 2 1/2 years of our marriage. We've even made quite a few adventures during and since having our three littles. The years have FLOWN by…

Last summer, we really started PLANNING our trip to BORA BORA.

It didn't even seem real.

It never seemed real…

until I set foot on a plane to travel half way around the world from my babies.

What the heck was I doing? What had I done?

Then I looked out my window…

and the dream became REALITY.

The water really is THAT blue.

All. The. Time.

Dreams DO come true.

I  hope to do a series of posts on our wonderful trip soon.

It was just too fabulous not to share.

Now for a new dream trip…

Greece? Italy? Scotland? Australia? Disney World? (that's more like it!)

Where is your dream vacation?

The Card Shoot…

Coffee Christmas Card Shoot 2012

We did the EXACT same thing today, November 17, 2013!

(although, this year I got smart and HIRED someone else to do it! Can't wait to see how they turn out!)

I have many more photos to share, unfortunately, I am having technical difficulties (no, not me) and will have to save them for another day.

Sugar: age 5

Spice: age 3

Bean: well, she's telling you right there - age: 1

Happy Monday, y'all!

"Things" on Thursday

what you were doing this time last year

This time last year…

the girls and I headed to Arkadelphia for The Battle of the Ravine.

I bleed red through and through, but my mom and dad both graduated from Ouachita. My dad even coached there for several years.

It's a tremendous contest that sparks a fire in the hearts of athletes and students alike.

History.

Tradition.

Good old fashion rivalry.

Before the game, both schools come together for family fun.

Rides, bounce houses, face painting and food galore...

I kid you not -- Bean shoved 2 cupcakes in her mouth face in under three minutes flat.

And I let her do it. I was there for the Battle of the Ravine NOT the Battle of the Cupcake Queen.

We were able to spend some fun time with Bebe and Papa.

The following photos were actually taken from the same event TWO years ago...

wow…look how much Bean has grown!

Unfortunately, The Coffee crew won't make it to the Battle of the Ravine this year.

Daddy will be on the hunt and Mama will be on the run (our final long run before the marathon in ~3 weeks!)

Go Team HOPE

           &

Go REDDIES!!

She Played a Song on my Heart Strings

This little girl...

In a sweet melodic voice she tells me, "I love cooking with you, Mama."

I returned the sentiment and squeezed her tight.

I looked at her and smiled, "How did you get to be so beautiful?"

She paused for a minute, "Oh, I'll always be your garden girl, Mama"

This small exchange won't make since or mean much to many, but to me...

it means the WORLD!

I was someone's garden girl, too.

And it stuck.
the Princess Patch - April 2013

I hope it does the same for this sweet child of mine.

"Things" on Thursday

Everyone was laughing, except you.

So, years ago...I had to have been 6-8 years old, we attended the annual high school state football championship game held at War Memorial Stadium. My dad was coaching at the time, and he needed to recruit players. I don't remember who was playing, what I got from the concession stand, or the color of my hair, but what I DO remember took place AFTER the game.

We were in a hurry to get to our car. Or at least that's how it felt to me. I'm sure my parents wanted to get me out of the cluster of cars in the parking lot (every parent's nightmare with a squiggly, active child). I was holding my dad's hand, and I lost my balance. He tried to hoist me up, but I guess I dragged the ground and ended up skinning two circular, bloody wounds on my knees. I'm sure much drama ensued following this incident. Don't worry. This wasn't the part where everyone was laughing.

After my tears were wiped away and the wounds cleaned, we headed for a late-night dinner at DENNY'S.

I ordered the spaghetti...with MEATBALLS (thank goodness I'm still able to love meatballs today). The next thing I remember, my face is planted in my spaghetti and I'm blowing bubbles in the sauce with every breath. I lift my head, and that's when the table exploded with laughter. My family thought it was oh so cute, and I attracted the attention of other patrons in the restaurant. I did not appreciate the spotlight of the moment, and I'm sure I didn't hold back my feelings.

I cringed at the sight of a Denny's for years after that.

Cringe.

Yep. Still does it to me.

I'm not sure I've been back.

Don't worry Mom and Dad -- it didn't scar me for life...well, not too badly anyway. It's just a time when I can remember "everyone laughing, except ME!" ;)

I'm sure if the same situation happened with one of my kiddos, I would have acted similarly. Never wake a sleeping baby/child...right?

What about you? Any memory of everyone laughing, except you?

I hope it was a situation as harmless as mine.

Mugshot Monday

Halloween 2013

I did a pretty horrific job of documenting my Little's costumes.

I should focus on the fact that I DID take a few shots, and we can look back on these memories and see...

A fairy with attitude

A precious bunny

A little monster with a boo boo

I had to share one family photo....

well, minus mama and Bean.

 Family photo

Where was Bean?

Being a little monster!!

Bean (aka Little Monster)

Hope you had a SAFE and HAPPY Halloween!

HAPPY Monday, y'all!
